Left & Right Daytime Running Lamp Fault

My E92 M3 BMW with white and yellow daytime running lamp/light.

I've bought an after market lamps to replace my yellow daytime running light on my BMW 2013 E92 M3. Happy for almost 2 months when suddenly my M3 gave fault and the light completely dead. Replace it back with original bulbs but still not working.

I've read in few forums as well as watched Youtube videos that if the footwell module FRM detect short-circuit in any of the wirings, after 50 cycle the FRM will shut the power suply to the respective circuit so i guess my FRM does it job well if the after market bulbs mot compatible with the car.

In one of the video i've watched, the guy said i can reset it with toolset32 software (even though he explanation for 320d reverse light which will work for daytime running light too but i'm too lazy to download and spend time to do it so I decided to go to few workshop in Musaffah to ask around.

First shop i went, the mechanic said he can reset the FRM but he afraid that it will make other function such as doors, windows etc will not work as usual so I don't want to take any risk with him. Went to second shop, the shop that claim as an expert on German cars. Have my cars brought in to their garage, told me that they need about 1 hour to check so I reluctantly want to proceed with them but they said they will try to make it less than 1 hour.

After 15 minutes the service coordinator told me that they will charge me minimum 600 dirham (USD163) for deep diagnostic and 1000 dirham (USD272) to fix the fault. I have a look in ebay and found that the FRM module was around USD114 so i said just return back my car.

Later i went to Butterfly Car Care, newly open workshop by a guy who have work with Abu Dhabi BMW dealership for 16 years and using ISTA software he reset the fault on my FRM and the light works again. Charge me for 50 dirham (USD14) and I thankfully add another 50 dirham to it for his service.

So as i said in my previous post that you don't need deep pocket to drive great BMW car, just need to make extra effort and source around for best workshop that can help you fix any problem at minimum cost.

Checking Used Car Accident History

I found a link for people in United Arab Emirates where they can check if their car had been involved with any accident before. I'm not sure if it will cover history if the accident happen in any other emirates but it is good to check before you buy one.

What you need to do is to key in your chasis number which is your VIN number and click "Submit, then it will show you the result.

Here is the link: https://es.adpolice.gov.ae/trafficservices/PublicServices/AccidentsInquiry.aspx?Culture=en

I've only found this link after i've bought my M3, and when i check it, no history found.😀

Hope this will help.

Updating iDrive CIC System Software To Latest Version

When first I got my BMW E92 M3, i've tried to connect my phone to the car via bluetooth but the phone not able to be connected. After doing some research, then i found out that i need to the latest BMW iDrive CIC System software.

Apparently the update provides an improvement for Bluetooth communication with car's multimedia system for new mobile devices. The process is very easy and only took few minutes to the update.

What required is just small size USB drive (the update file size about 8 MB), go to BMW Support site, fill up last 7 digit of VIN number and click OK. Accept the usage right agreement and click download software update.

Then I insert it in the USB audio interface and access the Software Update option in Settings menu of the control display. The iDrive system will be automatically updated.

Once the software has been updated, the system is restarted and data transferred from the USB device resynchronised where necessary.

That's about it, and yes, it is very easy.

Next post... updating to the latest Navigation.

First Accessories - Phone Holder & Charging Cable

On my previous BMW 330CI, there is a cup holder that easily reach while driving where I can use it to keep my phones but not in this BMW 2013 E92 M3.

As such i have to get this phone holder from Souq.com. As you can see, it fit my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 nicely.

I also get myself the dual charging cable for which perfectly blend with red color interior of my car.

Increase Emission Fault

I got my E92 M3 BMW car with almost empty tank so this beauty need to be filled with fuel. I went to nearby Adnoc gas station but the only fuel available are E-Plus 91 and Super 95, no Special 98 available as i thought the Super 95 is ok for the car, i fill it up full tank.

Unfortunately, after about 50 kilometers of driving suddenly this message "Increased Emissions" appears on the displays.
